Een Hole in One voor de NCFS

Golfing for a cure for CF.

On June 8th I'm taking on a hole in one challenge to raise money for the Nederlandse Cystic Fibrosis Stichting (NCFS). All money raised will go towards supporting their search for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

I’ve played golf for 30 years now and have NEVER had a hole in one, so this could take a couple of hours, a couple of days, or more..

Whatever happens, I won’t be leaving the course until it’s done. If there’s light I'll be hitting golf balls, and if it’s dark I'll be sleeping in a tent right there next to the challenge hole.

At 2 weeks old, our son Daniel was diagnosed with CF. Since then we’ve learnt about the positive recent advances in medicine to manage the underlying issues, but we’ve also met and read about families going through the worst of times who are either not eligible for the medicines, or have had the funding taken away.

Clearly, the goal is to find a cure, and this is our way as parents in this community to contribute to that end.

Any donation is welcome! And if you want to try your luck, you’ll also be able to join me during the challenge and take a shot for yourself (in exchange for an on the spot donation of course!). The kicker: if you manage to get a hole in one, there’s a special prize on offer!

Golfen om CF te genezen!

Op 8 juni ga ik een hole in one-uitdaging aan om geld in te zamelen voor de Nederlandse Cystic Fibrosis Stichting (NCFS) en hun doel om CF te genezen.

Ik golf al 30 jaar en heb nog NOOIT een hole in one gehad, dus deze uitdaging kan een paar uur duren, een paar dagen, of meer....

Wat er ook gebeurt, ik verlaat de golfbaan niet voordat het gelukt is. Als het licht is zal ik golfballen slaan, en als het donker is zal ik in een tentje slapen op de baan.

Afgelopen jaar werd bij onze zoon Daniel CF vastgesteld toen hij 2 weken oud was. In de maanden daarna hebben we veel geleerd over de recente vooruitgang op het gebied van medicatie die helpt om de ziekte te managen. Tegelijkertijd zijn er veel gezinnen die hier (nog) niet van kunnen profiteren, en is CF nog steeds niet te genezen.

Het doel is duidelijk: CF genezen. Dit is onze manier als ouders in deze gemeenschap om daaraan bij te dragen.

Elke donatie is welkom! En als je je geluk wilt beproeven, kun je tijdens de uitdaging ook met mij meedoen en zelf een poging wagen (in ruil voor een donatie ter plekke natuurlijk!). En als het je lukt om een hole in one te slaan, is er een speciale prijs!
